ISA 200 - Overall Objectives of the Independent Auditor and conducting the audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing

The ISA 220 deals with global responsibilities that the independent auditor when performing an audit of financial statements in accordance with ISAs . In particular , it establishes the overall objectives of the independent auditor and explains the nature and scope of an audit designed to enable the independent auditor achieve those objectives.

In conducting the audit of financial statements, the overall objectives of the auditor are:

(a ) obtaining reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole are free from the material inaccuracy due to fraud or error , allowing the auditor to express an opinion on whether the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects , in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework ; and

( b ) the issuance of a report on the financial statements , and compliance with the communication requirements contained in the ISAs, in the light of the findings of the auditor.
